Foodex Japan is the Asia’s largest exhibition dedicated on food and drink across Japan and the whole world. 2018 is the 43rd International Food and Beverage Exhibition that was held.

During the exhibition, thousands of buyers and suppliers from food service, distribution and trading companies not only in Japan but also in abroad came to attend.

Vietnam Pavilion located in Hall 5 – the Central Hall of Makuhari Messe – where the Foodex took place. With the new design of open space, Vietnam Area brought certain impression to all of visitors. However, as customers’ comments, the position of Vietnam is quite hard to find.

G.O.C Food is proud to be one of 20 companies from Vietnam to attend in this food trade show. Most of Vietnam companies are frozen manufacturers; some are noodle, tempura, canned and pepper producers. G.O.C Food is the only one who produces pickles.

Products brought to Foodex Japan were the main strength items from the Company, including: Pickles (gherkin, tomato, chili, baby corn, Jalapeno, rakkyo, mixed vegetables), Fruits (Lychee, pineapple), Dried products (wood ear, cinnamon, star anise) and Bamboo shoot. 

During 4 days of the Food show, hundreds of visitors came to visit GOC Booth, of which about 20 visitors were GOC’s old and current customers and other were new ones. The table below showed the interest of all customers:

From the above table we could see that most of customers express their interest in the Pickles, and the most interested item was gherkin, besides Rakkyo, Jalapeno and Mixed pickles. These items will be distributed to super markets, convenient stores and food supply chain.

For bamboo product (both menma and boiled), though the interest is lower than pickles, this is the potential that GOC should invest in. It is seen that the demand for bamboo is high while the supply capacity is still low.

For dried products, including wood ear and spices, almost customers showed their interest in wood ear. Some customers wanted to go to the factory to see the real production of wood ear right after the show!

This year GOC brought new developed packaging to Foodex, that is CUP. For this new packing, we could pack almost any product in, from cucumber (whole and slices), rakkyo to fruit cocktails. This new item has low price but owns its big advantage: that it is very suitable for one person/one meal. However, because of the fact that it is new item, the interest for it could not be compared to traditional products. But we believe that for the upcoming years, this item will lead the list for most interested items!

In conclusion, Foodex Japan 2018 brought to us some certain success that could be listed as below:

  1. To meet old and current customers, maintain the relationship and develop new corporation;
  2. To introduce GOC to new visitors, to promote GOC’brand and image closer to Japan customers in particularly and to abroad customers generally;
  3. To introduce GOC’s items to all customers.

It is surely that after this Exhibition we have gained new corporation with new customers.  Hope that we could maintain and develop these corporations in the long run.
